The old 1950’s Copland Community School has been demolished and replaced with the new £26m Ark Elvin Academy.
The new building which is over three storeys, includes fully-equipped design, food technology, science and art departments. There is a new music department, featuring it’s own recording studio, music labs and practice rooms. Creative pupils also get to enjoy the state of the art drama studios.
Sports and physical education has advanced, with new gym equipment and Sports Hall facility areas. Two multi-use games areas were constructed and includes a large 3G (artificial grass) football pitch with flood lighting. There’s also an assembly hall with retractable seating.
The two and three storey building has modern classrooms, a prominent new library and dining hall opening onto a courtyard. The sixth form students also get to enjoy a new common room and study space.

CCN were specified to supply the doorsets by Nicholas Hare Architects LLP, following our success on previous Education projects.
Over 300 performance door sets comprising of varied fire protection and acoustic reduction.
A range of door finishes including Quarter Cut American White Oak veneers book matched over pairs. Laminate faced doors complete with contrasting profiled lipping.
Classroom doorsets were supplied with our cross certified timber glazed screens to compliment the learning spaces.
Architectural ironmongery was supplied by CCN from our CESpec Ensign range, non protruding hardware was fully fitted to doors at CCN works.
