Ark Elvin Academy

The old 1950’s Copland Community School has been demolished and replaced with the new £26m Ark Elvin Academy

The new building which is over three storeys, includes fully-equipped design, food technology, science and art departments. There is a new music department, featuring it’s own recording studio, music labs and practice rooms. Creative pupils also get to enjoy the state of the art drama studios.

Sports and physical education has advanced, with new gym equipment and Sports Hall facility areas. Two multi-use games areas were constructed and includes a large 3G (artificial grass) football pitch with flood lighting.  There’s also an assembly hall with retractable seating.

The two and three storey building has modern classrooms, a prominent new library and dining hall opening onto a courtyard. The sixth form students also get to enjoy a new common room and study space.

“This is great news for our students, who have wanted a new building for some time. With new leadership, a new uniform and improved teaching and behaviour, this new building marks the latest step in our journey towards becoming an outstanding school.”
