North Tyneside General Hospital Multi-Million Endoscopy Suite

THE BEST FACILITIES

Contractor – Surgo Construction

Architect – Dunwoodie Architects

Early 2018 North Tyneside General Hospital opened the new £2.5million endoscopy unit. The refurbished former ward area now gives patients the best facilities available in the NHS at the time of opening.

The unit features three treatment rooms with high tech decontamination cleaning facilities and is supported with a reverse osmosis plant.

With separate areas for admitting and discharging patients, the unit – based where critical care was previously located – improves the privacy and dignity for those having this diagnostic test.

Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management Ltd worked closely with colleagues at North Tyneside hospital to ensure the unit had everything required.

Professor Roger Barton and Dr Irving Cobden officially opened the facility, which has the latest diagnostic technology.

“Having a team of people who know how the NHS operates and that has patients and clinical colleagues at the heart of their decision making and planning is worth its weight in gold. Our unit is now much brighter and more spacious and our patients now have greater privacy too. What’s more we were kept involved at all times and our views were taken into account throughout the re-design.”
