A timeline of our development since 2005
2005
CCN was founded by Laurence and Chris, who were driven by a vision to bring highly engineered, modern production solutions to the timber-based fire door and wider performance market. They identified a stark contrast between the timber industry and the more advanced offerings in metal, glass, and particularly in European manufacturing standards.2006
CCN opened its first assembly facility, marking the beginning of our operational journey. The early focus was on developing and testing a robust product range designed to meet EN standards, with the aim of introducing highly engineered, advanced stiled and railed door set solutions to the UK market.2011
To support ever growing demand and the need to expand operations, CCN moved to a more substantial manufacturing facility. Around this time, we also began establishing CE centres across the UK, including in Scotland, Wales, the South East, and the Midlands.2016
Following Brexit, CCN made a strategic decision to sever ties with our European supply chain. This shift solidified our commitment to a fully UK-based manufacturing model. However, the company retained its focus on EN standards, having already developed products to meet the stringent requirements of the European market.2018
CCN fully transitioned to a complete in-house manufacturing model, allowing for greater control over quality, production timelines and costs.2021
To accommodate continued growth, CCN relocated to our new, state-of-the-art 80,000 sq ft facility in Durham. This site incorporates full capability for all aspects of door set manufacture and finishing under one roof, reinforcing the company’s position as a leading provider of engineered commercial products.Today
Today we employ in excess of 70 staff, and are renowned for our engineered high quality commercial product prevalent in the function first sectors, Education, Health and Specialist. Engineered product, built well, to last. CCN continues to lead in the UK fire door market with products designed to meet and exceed EN standards.Looking Ahead
Thanks to our origins in EN-standard product development, CCN is well positioned to meet the full transition to these standards ahead of the 2029 deadline. Our legacy of engineering excellence, combined with a UK-centric approach, ensures long-term reliability and regulatory compliance across all of the sectors we serve.
